Terrified young girls forced to flee from thug teens who chased them with knives in Malahide, North Dublin

A group of young girls ran for their lives after being chased by knife-wielding thugs in North Dublin on Saturday.

Gardai are on the hunt for three thug teens who brandished the blade before giving chase to the group in The Hill area of Malahide around 4pm.

One of the girls ran into a local shop and gardai were alerted before the teens fled.

The Portmarncok Community Association shared a message from a concerned local whose sister was on of the girls chased. She urged others to be wary.

They said: "To people on here with kids hanging around the Portmarnock/Malahide area. My little sister and her friends were up by Scoil Iosa and three teenagers chased them with knives.

"One of them even followed them when they ran into the sweet shop on the main road.

"Gardai were called out and the lads got away. Tell your kids to be careful."

A garda spokesman confirmed the incident and said the investigation is now well underway.

He said: "Gardaí received a report of a knife being brandished towards a group of younger children in The Hill area of Malahide, Co.Dublin on January 18th at approximately 4pm.

"Surrounding area was patrolled by Gardaí, no offence disclosed. Investigation ongoing.
