Terrified residents heard 'pops and bangs' as fire ripped through van on Scots street

Fire ripped through a van on a Scots street during the early hours of this morning .

Firefighters rushed to David's Loan in the Langlees area of Falkirk, just after 4am on Saturday August, 21, after reports of a vehicle ablaze.

Pictures posted on social media show the front of a van alight as fire crews battle to extinguish the flames.

Residents say they were awoken by the sound of 'pops and bangs'.

Cops have launched a probe to establish the full circumstances around the fire.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Operations control were alert to a vehicle fire on Seaforth Road at around 04:08 this morning.

"They mobilised one crew from Falkirk and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

"Crews left after making the area safe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 4.35am on Saturday, 21 August, to a report of a van on fire in David’s Loan, Falkirk.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who saw anything suspicious or has CCTV footage that might help with our enquiries, is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident 0684 of Saturday, 21 August, 2021."
