Terrified pensioners threatened by thieves who broke into their home

Police are investigating after two elderly people were threatened in their own home by thieves.

The two crooks managed to sneak inside the house on Bettison Avenue in Leigh through an unlocked door.

They threatened the pensioners - aged 70 and 73 - and demanded they hand over cash, before escaping empty handed.

Neither victim was hurt during the attempted robbery, however both were left 'shaken and distressed'.

The thieves, who were both men, ran off towards Calow Drive.

They are described as white, around 30 to 40-years-old and of medium build.

"We are appealing for members of the public to think back to that morning and try and remember if they saw two men acting suspiciously in the Leigh area.

"We also ask anyone who has CCTV to check if they have footage of the two men approaching or leaving the scene around Bettison Avenue and Callow Drive."
