'Terrified!' - Newcastle fans hit back at Man Utd and Tottenham after takeover meeting

The news of Newcastle United's £305m Saudi-backed takeover sent shockwaves across the footballing world and sparked plenty of reaction from some Premier League clubs.

Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben Brothers completed the deal last week, ending Mike Ashley's 14-year run at the top.

The Magpies have since been left out of an extraordinary top-flight meeting surrounding their Middle East takeover as rivals demanded a thorough talk through Richard Masters' decision to approve the deal.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are believed to have spearheaded the complaint and Chronicle Live understands that Newcastle's new owners are well aware of how others feel.

Amanda Staveley and the club's hierarchy, though, insist that they have done everything by the book and will operate in full accordance to the rules.

Nevertheless, Newcastle supporters have been giving their reaction to the meeting and one fan says they are 'terrified', whilst another suggested that the two teams are 'scared of falling behind'.

Here is what some had to say on social media.

@GSMK16 : It’s got nothing to do with any of them, it’s ridiculous that they should be informed about NUFC takeover! In the end of the day the takeover passed everything so it’s irrelevant if they are angry or concerned! No one was informed when Man City was taken over. Keep your nose out.

@DarrenboyB : Oh look Spurs and Man U are throwing their toys out of the pram again….What a shock..!!!!!

@ianyoung935 : Shocking.

@Ell_nufc : @SpursOfficial and @ManUtd are most at risk of becoming irrelevant if we go on and break into the top 6. That is why these two are terrified.

@JordanRMorris : Two teams scared of falling further behind

@DanielM12266763 : The big 6 complaining? this wouldn’t be the big six that wanted to abandon the Premier League to join a Super League by any chance would it?

The first game of the new regime takes place this Sunday against Tottenham at St James' Park and it's expected to be an electric atmosphere as the Magpies search for their first win of the season.
