Terrified mum suffered 4 seizures after being spiked with needle on night out

A terrified mum suffered four seizures after being spiked by an injection on a night out.

Danielle Hayton's heart rate surged to 189 beats per minute after she was attacked with a needle.

Her family was frightened for her life as paramedics blue-lighted the 30-year-old to hospital.

Danielle was on a night out with her cousin Rebekah, 26, last Saturday when she started falling asleep at the bar - something totally out of character.

Being Type 1 diabetic, it was assumed the health care assistant was drowsy because her blood sugars were low.

It wasn't until the cousins got home that Danielle's condition rapidly deteriorated.

Rebekah was unable to wake Danielle up from her drowsiness and quickly realised something more sinister had happened.

She then watched on in fear as each seizure got more intense than the last.

The convulsing from seizures has even had a long-term effect on Danielle's body - including a gnawed tongue and aching limbs.

Danielle, of Clitheroe, Lancs - mum to Joah, 22 months - said: "It's been scary - especially because I'm type 1 diabetic.

"It could have been so much worse.

"All I could think was 'what if something worse had happened and my little boy was left without his mummy?'

"It's definitely been an eye-opener.

"But it makes me so worried and scared to go out and drink again."

Devoted mum Danielle doesn't go out often, so was petrified by the impact the spiking had on her body.

She added: "I've ended up with a bitten and cut tongue from the seizures, as well as sore legs and body.

"It's been a rough week but I'm just so grateful for my cousin, sister and the paramedics acting so quickly and helping me."

Paramedics confirmed in the ambulance she had been spiked.

Danielle didn't feel a needle prick her at any point on the night out so was shocked to find an injection mark on her right arm.

The needle prick was surrounded by a ring of bruising.

Cousin Rebekah said: "I'm just so glad I was there and wasn't injected myself.

"I dread to think how it would have been if I hadn't been here or able to help."

The mum-of-two also had another son Jacob who was born in 2018, but he sadly died.
