Terrified mum left 'shaking' after discovering huge snake on kitchen counter

A Salford mum got the fright of her life when she discovered a large snake on her kitchen top in Irlam.

The reptile, believed to be an Albino King, was found behind a sink drainer a house in Parkstone Road on June 17.

Maureen Ward discovered the animal after she noticed her cat was too scared to go into her kitchen.

The 58-year-old said she got up to check if the window was open for her when something caught her eye.

Believing she had spotted a mouse by the kitchen sink, she went to move the drainer.

But to her horror, a large snake had entered the house through the window and had been hiding on the kitchen counter.

The mum-of-three said: “I was taken back. I thought it would be a mouse, I was quite shocked to see a snake!

“I was terrified once it nipped me. My body was shaking and everything.

“I screamed for my husband. He got a tea towel and grabbed it.

“The day before we were in the garden by the window and the cat had jumped on the bin and was sniffing the wall.”

The snake was put into a box and handed to a resident who said they would take care of it until its owner came forward.

So far, no one has claimed the animal.

“I went around the estate knocking on all doors asking if they had lost a snake,” Maureen added.

“No one came up with any answers.”
