Terrence Ross leads Magic to 105-85 win against rival Heat

ORLANDO, Fla. _ Terrence Ross tied a season-high with six 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as the Orlando Magic picked up another signature win by beating the rival Miami Heat, 105-85, on Friday night at Amway Center.

Nikola Vucevic recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Magic (16-19) while Aaron Gordon scored 16 points, including a highlight-reel dunk in the first half, during his return to the lineup after missing the past two games with a lower leg injury.

Evan Fournier added 15 points while Mo Bamba recorded 11 rebounds and Markelle Fultz had a career-high six steals for Orlando, which beat a team with a winning record for just the third time this season.

Jimmy Butler scored 23 points and Bam Adebayo had 14 for the Heat, who shot just 18.9% from the 3-point line. They were the only players in double figures for Miami (25-10).

Orlando, which played its first game since learning starting forward Jonathan Isaac will miss eight to 10 weeks with a knee injury, converted 18 Miami turnovers into 24 points.

The Magic pulled away with a 17-4 run during a 7:02 stretch of the fourth quarter.

Ross knocked down five 3-pointers and scored 18 points in the first half as the Magic built a 56-44 lead by the break. Orlando shot just 37.8% from the field overall but was better from 3-point range (38.9%) than 2-point range (37.0%).

The Magic also helped their cause by going 15 of 16 from the free-throw line. The 15 free throws were a season-high for the first half. The previous high of 14 came Nov. 29 against the Toronto Raptors.

Bamba delivered five points and nine rebounds in just eight minutes.

The Magic return to action Saturday night when they host the Utah Jazz to close out a home back-to-back set. The game tips off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Florida.

The Jazz beat the Magic, 109-102, when the teams met Dec. 17 in Salt Lake City.
