Terrelle Pryor visited Bears before signing with Browns

Dec. 02--Terrelle Pryor paid a visit to the Chicago Bears before re-signing with the injury-ravaged Cleveland Browns.

The former Ohio State quarterback turned wide receiver wasn't the only player the Bears wanted to take a look at.

The team put tight ends Rob Housler and Nick Kasa through a tryout at Halas Hall. Wide receiver Marcus Lucas also had a tryout, his second with the team this season.

It's possible the Bears want to firm up an emergency list at tight end in the event Martellus Bennett cannot return this week after missing last Thursday's game at Green Bay with a rib injury. The team has Gannon Sinclair on the practice squad but he is an untested rookie. Bennett was on the field Monday during the portion of practice that was open to media.

Housler, 27, was waived from the injured reserve list by the Browns last month. He signed a $1.76 million, one-year contract in the spring and indications were he would be the starter. But he was overtaken by Gary Barnidge and wound up appearing in only six games with one catch. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Housler spent his first four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He appeared in 55 games for them with 105 receptions and one touchdown.

Kasa played in 16 games for the Raiders in 2013 but has not appeared in a regular-season game since. Oakland released him in the spring after he missed all of the 2014 season with a torn ACL.

Lucas spent parts of the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The Bears previously put Lucas through a workout on Oct. 6.
