Terrell Suggs turned down ‘handsome offer’ from Ravens to join Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have brought back home one of Arizona’s own. Adding linebacker Terrell Suggs, who played high school ball in Chandler and collegiately at Arizona State, brings one of the best back home.

Suggs said at his introductory press conference the Cardinals were the only other team he could have played for if he wasn’t playing for the Baltimore Ravens.

In fact, he had an offer to play for the Ravens that he turned down to come to the Cardinals.

“They made me a handsome offer, but it was just time,” he said. “That team, that organization is very special to me, but so is the Valley of the Sun.”

He indicated it was “time to turn the page.”

Suggs, despite playing in Baltimore for 16 years, kept an offseason home in Arizona, where he has lived since 1996. He said he has kept an eye on the Cardinals throughout his career.

He also revealed there were a couple of times he thought playing for the Cardinals was a possibility, saying they would have had “first dibs” had he not continued in Baltimore.

For now, it looks like a great match. He wanted to be here. He chose the Cardinals over the Ravens. he wants to continue to produce. He gives the defense a second good pass rusher off the edge to pair with Chandler Jones.

And if he can give the Cardinals more or less what he gave the Ravens in 2018, the $7 million they are paying him will be well worth the money.
