Terrell Suggs gets one-year deal from Cardinals for $7 million

So far with the start of the legal tampering period of NFL free agency, the Arizona Cardinals have only agreed to sign one player. They will sign veteran pass rusher Terrell Suggs.

The specifics of the contract were not known immediately, but now they are known. The Cardinals get Suggs on a very reasonable deal.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it is a one-year contract for $7 million.

Suggs, entering his 17th year in the league, has earned more than $106 million in his career. This contract is a bit of a pay increase over what he has earned the last several years. Obviously, not all $7 million is in salary but he hasn’t been paid more than $7 million in any season since his last contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens in 2014. His salary for each of the last two seasons was $4 million.

Even still, with seven sacks last season, it is roughly par for the course for a pass rusher, being paid rough $1 million per sack.

It is a reasonable contract for an aging yet productive player.
