Sunlight is reflected on the water of terraced rice paddies at the Oyama Senmaida rice field in Kamogawa, Chiba Prefecture, as the sun rises early on Tuesday morning.
Comprising approximately 375 rice paddies of various sizes in an area sprawling about 3.2 hectares, the rice field is designated as one of the 100 most beautiful terraced rice fields in the country by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Ministry.
Under a "paddy-owner system," the paddies are leased to people wanting to experience rice-growing activities, such as planting and harvesting.
Rice planting events, which were canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, went ahead this year from April 29 to May 2. The rice will be harvested in late August.
The mirror-like paddies reflecting the sun and sky can be viewed until mid-May.
