Terraced house squeezed into narrow gap looks tiny until you step through front door

A terraced house squeezed into a tiny gap looks cramped and uncomfortable from the street - but once you step through the front door, it's a very different story.

The four-bedroom house was cleverly redesigned, resulting in its appearance belying the sprawling interior - leading to former coach house being compared to the TARDIS in Doctor Who.

Crammed in between two other properties in south east London, the home opens out dramatically at the back, providing enviable open-plan living spaces which join a substantial private garden.

Huge glass panel allow natural light to flood in and there's even a roof terrace on one of the three levels, sitting above the garden.

The deceptive property was put on the market for a cool £1,250,000 - and has been sold subject to conditions.

It was listed on Rightmove, which said: "In the same way that the TARDIS is much bigger on the inside despite its exterior being of limited size, the same is true of this impressive property.

"Remarkably, the Coach House extends to 1,621 sq ft across three floors, with a modern open plan living space at the back of the property blending into a private, urban oasis of a garden.

"The Coach House has been rigorously designed as a ‘smart’ house, with underfloor heating, an eight-speaker Sonos system in the living room and kitchen as well as a video camera doorbell at the front door."

Photos inside show a modern kitchen joining a spacious living room, with exposed brickwork offset by concrete pillars.

Upstairs the sleek design continues, with a simple bedroom featuring a floor to ceiling window and mirror to open up the space.

Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: "It’s wonderful to see such diverse property for sale on Rightmove and this beautifully contemporary home is definitely one of a kind.

"I love how the narrow façade disguises a quite magnificent home behind it, giving the impression that this property is almost like the TARDIS from Doctor Who."
