Teri Nunn: Berlin singer issues apology for performing at Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve event

Berlin singer Teri Nunn has issued an apology for performing at Mar-a-Lago's New Year's Eve party.

Posting a statement to Berlin's Facebook page, the "Take My Breath Away" singer said she was sorry for performing at the mask-less event, which also featured members from the Beach Boys, Vanilla Ice, and fellow 1980s pop performer Taylor Dayne.

"I am truly sorry I performed at Mar-a-Lago and would not have done so if I'd known what I learned while I was there," the Berlin singer wrote.

"My goal in performing was not to support a political party," Nunn continued.  "I see now that that's not the way it appeared and I am apologetic for that as well."

Nunn went onto describe what she thought the event would entail, saying that her contract called the event "small" and "Covid-safe".

"Unfortunately it was not Covid-safe anywhere in Florida," she continued. "I had no idea masks and social distancing were not required. I thought I was current on all Covid news everywhere, but clearly I was not. I was shocked by Florida and Mar-a-Lago's lack of regard for the pandemic and if I'd known I would never have gone.

"Once I fulfilled my contractual obligation, I left the event as quickly as I could. It is a mistake I regret. I took a Covid-19 test yesterday and tested negative. My apologies to those in the LGBTQ community who thought my performance was a statement against them. I have been and always will be fully supportive."

Fellow performer Taylor Dayne made the news yesterday (4 January) when she posted a now-deleted tweet defending her New Year’s set at Mar-a-Lago. "I try to stay non-political and non-judgmental and not preach," she said. "I sing from my heart purely and from Source. I wish for all to be who they need to be ... and find their way."

The President and First Lady Melania Trump were reportedly not at the black-tie event, but Donald Trump Jr and girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump and wife Lara Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Rudy Giuliani were all present.
