Terenure village in mourning following death of beloved Dino's Takeaway founder

A South Dublin village is in mourning following the death of one of its most famous proprietors.

Dino Muscedere, who created the famous Dino's Takeaway in Terenure with his wife Lisa, passed away earlier this week in Italy.

It's the end of an era for the village, which has many memories of Dino and his family over the decades.

Mr Muscedere and his wife Lisa, who died in June 2018, have been remembered fondly by the I Love Terenure group.

They have been remembered as a "vibrant couple" who were "great craic" who added a lot to the local community.

A spokesman said: "Some very sad news for the village. We have just heard of the passing of Dino from Terenure Chipper earlier this week in Italy.

"Most of the community will remember Dino & Lisa of Dino's Takeaway, they were a vibrant couple.

"Back in the day you could not go home after a night out without heading to Dino’s for a belly full.

"On saying that, it was not just for food you would go. It was the craic too! Always a bit of action going down, in front or behind the counter. Those were the days!"

They continued: "Many a lovely meal was had in Lisa's Trattoria, where on occasion you might get a rendition of ‘Nessun Derma’ from Roberto, who was a very talented Opera Singer and whom Dino and Lisa were so proud.

"The cultural significance of Dino’s Chipper cannot be understated. Dino’s was the place that inspired 1976 Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys are Back in Town” where “Friday night they’ll be dress to kill down at Dino’s Bar & Grill".

"It’s is a sad day for Terenure and the many many memories we all share. We don’t know one person without a story about Dino’s. End of an era!

"We would like to offer our heartfelt condolence’s to the Muscedere family, especially Roberto, Anna & Elena at this sad time.

"Thanks for the memories Dino!"

Many paid tribute to Dino and Lisa, with local man John Brady saying: "A fantastic family, many a good night we had in Dino's . Got collected regularly from nightowls by Dino in his big Opel or Vauxhall and brought to the chipper .

"I was there the night of the big fire , Dino and myself sitting outside black as the ace of spades struggling to breath , and on another night Brendan Grace came in and did the funniest half of comedy I ever saw.

"And what about italia '90 when Schillaci put us out and a large group gathered to sing "Schillaci is a bollocks" and lisa came out and conducted our choir of drunks with her lovely laugh . Got a fantastic rendition of nessum dorma in the trattoria one night by Roberto.

"I could go on and on , fantastic memories of fantastic nights with fantantic people . Dino and Lisa will never be forgotten."
