A much-loved South Dublin hair salon is closing its doors after 31 years as things just haven't been the same since the passing of their "beloved" owner two years ago.
Misty's Hair Salon in Terenure will sadly bow out of business on February 29 having been a staple of the village since 1988.
Locals were shocked to hear the news with many having been loyal customers for their entire lives.
Staff made the announcement on Valentine's Day and said that the place just wasn't the same death of beloved Myra Wardrop in 2018.
Mrya, who was originally from Laois, was with family and friends when she passed away peacefully in St James' Hospital in October 2018.
The salon thanked all the loyal customers over the years as well as "fantastic" staff for their passion and hard work.
They said: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the closure of Misty's Hair Salon. After more than 31 years in business, we will be closing down on Saturday February 29 at 3pm.
"Misty's first opened its doors in Terenure in October 1988.
"It's been fantastic for the last three decades, but since the passing our beloved owner Myra it hasn't been the same.
"We regret very much having to make this decision and we would like to thank our fantastic staff, past and present, for all their hard work, dedication, professionalism and charisma over the years, and to all our wonderful customers from Terenure and beyond, who were so loyal over the decades of business."
Disappointed locals reflected on times past describing the news as the "end of an era".
One said: "Really sorry to hear you are closing. This very familiar and friendly institution of hair and chat in Terenure will be very much missed. The best of luck to all the staff and thank you all for your years of hair care."
Another wrote: "Very sad news, Terenure won’t be the same without Misty's .... best of luck to all the girls!!!"
