Terem Moffi in Rangers transfer link as fellow Lyle Taylor suitors 'target' in demand Nigerian striker

Red-hot Kortrijk striker Terem Moffi is a target for Rangers - according to a report.

The 21-year-old is being chased by a clutch of clubs thanks to his goal exploits and Score Nigeria claim the Ibrox side are among the his suitors.

Moffi had enhanced his burgeoning reputation with four goals for the Division 1 side since his £150,000 move from Lithuanian side Riteria in January.

Lorient are also believed to be keen but it's understood Galatasaray lead the way with the Turkish big-hitters readying a £2m offer for a player who returned to Nigeria after his initial taste of European football with Kauno Žalgiris in 2017.

Steven Gerrard and sporting director Ross Wilson have both stressed the importance of a fruitful summer transfer window as they look to unseat Celtic and deny their rivals a historic 10th consecutive Premiership title.

Rangers have been linked with a host of forwards in recent weeks including long-term target Kemar Roofe and Livingston's imposing Lyndon Dykes.

Charlton's soon-to-be free agent Lyle Taylor is another mooted with an Ibrox switch as his deal gets set to expire at the end of the month.

The link with Belgian-based Moffi comes after Rangers were also mentioned as admirers of fellow Division 1 pair Saido Berahino and Manuel Benson. Rangers also secured a permanent deal for Genk's Ianis Hagi earlier this summer.

But the race to secure Moffi's services is set to be long and winding with his London-based agency weighing up several offers on the table.

The player's father Leonard, a former goalkeeper, hopes his son can can keep up his free-scoring run before staking his claim within the world's top five leagues.

He said: “It is important that at this stage of his career he plays regularly. That will help his development

“Thereafter, I hope he could play for a top club in France or Spain.”

The link comes days after Ibrox boss Gerrard insisted his side are in the market for quality additions, he said: “I don’t think there will be much volume in terms of new signings. It will be more a case of who we bring in to strengthen the 11.

“I do anticipate more signings but we have to be patient. It’s going to be a different window. It could be a longer window, so we need to make sure we’re right when we do make the move and we’re going for the right type of player.

“It’s more, ‘Can we
identify players that
are going to make the
11 stronger?’

“We know this is a unique situation. I’m happy with what I’m hearing. We’re okay and I’m told if the right players become available and it makes financial sense, then we’ll do it.
