Tens of thousands of observers deployed ahead of DR Congo vote

Poll are set to open this Wednesday in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tens of thousands of observers will be monitoring the electoral process.

Meanwhile, in Sudan, the army says its forces have withdrawn from Wad Madani, after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took over the city, which is the country's second largest. As many as 300,000 people have fled.

And in Zimbabwe, at least 100 elephants have died in the country’s largest national park in recent weeks because of drought.
