Thousands of tennis fans lined up at Perth Arena this afternoon to watch world number two Roger Federer in a practice session ahead of the Hopman Cup.
Local and international fans queued patiently to secure seats at the free public event, which featured Federer and Australia's Thanasi Kokkinakis, ranked 209th in the world.
Perth resident Gillian Rex attended the session with her three grandchildren.
"We love tennis and we love Roger and he's half South African, and that's where I was born," she said.
"Last year I saw him, but the kids can't come at night when he's playing, so today's their opportunity."
A total of 5,688 people made it through the gates, including Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui.
Federer, a 19-time Grand Slam champion, will begin his Hopman Cup campaign tomorrow when Switzerland plays Japan.
His training regime has not been as intense the whole week, with the tennis legend squeezing in a whirlwind visit to WA's Rottnest Island to meet some young fans.
He also managed to snap a selfie with one of the island's iconic marsupials, in something of a tourism coup for the state.
Federer has made an amazing comeback in his career, winning both the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2017.
He made the decision to miss this year's French Open to let his body rest and prepare for his title defence at Rod Laver Arena in January.
The Hopman Cup will run until January 6.
