Tennessee Titans take Alabama WR in way-too-early Draft Wire 2021 mock

The 2020 NFL Draft may have just come to a close, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the next year.

The Tennessee Titans have a good thing going in Nashville after falling just short of a Super Bowl appearance last season, and will continue to build off of that in the coming years to become a team that can consistently contend in the postseason.

So, what could that mean for the 2021 NFL Draft?

According to Luke Easterling of Draft Wire, the Titans will pick at No. 17 overall, and take Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith off the board.

There are several takeaways from that prediction, with two of the most important being that Easterling sees the Titans regressing from 2019’s level of success and needing to give Tannehill a new target.

And, with the Titans declining the fifth-year option of Corey Davis on Friday, finding a new receiver in next year’s draft becomes even more important if he doesn’t return after 2020, which is now likely.

Last year, Smith played in 13 games and caught 68 passes for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns. So far in his college career, Smith has appeared in 34 games, reeling in 118 receptions for 2,109 yards with 23 touchdowns.

It will be interesting to see how closely Easterling’s projections align with reality after we get to about this time next year.
