Tennessee Titans re-signing Jayon Brown to one-year deal

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly decided to reunite with inside linebacker Jayon Brown for another season.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Brown will be returning to the Titans on a one-year deal worth $5.25 million, and he also adds that Brown turned down other offers in the process.

We weren’t really expecting Brown to be retained, as we felt the estimated market value of a deal paying $11 million or so annually would be too rich for Tennessee to come close to.

This is clearly far less than that. It’ll be interesting to see if Brown simply took a hometown discount, or if his value had dropped because of his injury-shortened 2020 campaign, leading to a disappointing market.

Since entering the league as a fifth-round pick in 2017, Brown has been an important piece to the Titans’ defense and has developed into one of the better coverage linebackers in the NFL.

In an offseason in which Tennessee is making a slew of changes on the defensive side of the ball, it’s good to see one of its own coming back.
