Following the 2020 NFL Draft and with the team’s new picks factored in, the Tennessee Titans have the eighth-most cap space in the NFL based on the salaries (projected or otherwise) of their current top 51.
Here’s a look at the projected rookie cap hits for 2020, according to Spotrac.
OT Isaiah Wilson: $2.1 million
CB Kristian Fulton: $969K
RB Darrynton Evans: $829K
DL Larrell Murchison: $679K
QB Cole McDonald: $639K
S Chris Jackson: $629K
According to Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes, Wilson is projected to get a four-year deal from the Titans that will total $11.6 million.
In total, Spotrac has the Titans’ cap space of the top 51 with rookie cap hits included at $21.6 million, however the recent re-signing of cornerback Tye Smith has yet to be added to that number.
So, if we estimate Smith’s salary at around $900K for 2020, that would give the Titans roughly $20.7 million in cap space to work with in free agency moving forward.
Again, these are a lot of projections right now, so that number could go down, but even if it is lower than that the Titans, it won’t be by much.
Tennessee has more than enough room to bring Jadeveon Clowney in if it so chooses after he reportedly lowered his asking price to around $17 to $18 million.
