Tennessee Titans’ 2020 salary cap will be less than projected

The Tennessee Titans will have a bit less money to spend this offseason than originally thought.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the 2020 salary cap will be set at $198.2 million, which is up $10 million from last season but almost a few million short of the $200 million it was projected to land at.

According to Over the Cap, which was using a projection of about $200 million to determine the cap space for NFL teams, the Titans had roughly $50 million to spend this offseason before making cuts.

Now, that original number is lessened to about $48 million by default, and goes up to roughly $66 million instead of $68 million with the recent cuts the Titans made.

Sure, it’s not a huge decrease in funds, but it’s a decrease nonetheless and one that will slightly impact an offseason in which the Titans have a lot of their own players to retain, on top of any moves they make with free agents.
