Tennent's Zero set to appear on Tesco shelves across the country

Tennent's brand new alcohol-free beer is set to appear on Tesco shelves across the country after the Glasgow-based brewer announced it would be supplying the supermarket.

The Scottish firm say Tennent’s Zero uses water from Loch Katrine, hops and Scottish barley to give it the same "great flavour profile" as Tennent’s Lager.

Not only is the new alcohol-free beer just 17kcal per 100ml, it'll also be the first of Tennent's smaller pack formats to ditch plastic for card packaging as part of Tennent’s ongoing sustainability commitment.

Available in card packs of 4 x 440ml cans, the Tennent's team say Tennent’s Zero meets the growing trends in local, authentic and moderation.

Iain Telford, Senior Marketing Manager at Tennent’s, said: “Creating Tennent’s Zero has been like the search for the holy grail as we sought to create a 0.0% product but with all the same great taste of Tennent’s Lager.

"Our master brewers have spent months getting this right and we are truly delighted with the beer that we have created and can’t wait for people to try it."

"It has the same great flavour of Tennent’s Lager and we’re confident that consumers will be keen to try Tennent’s Zero as it hits the shelves of retailers from the first week in October.”

The news comes as Tennent's launched a new video online introducing the ‘Welcome Back Pint’ alongside some of the most missed occasions from the past year of lockdown.

Set to the soundtrack of How it Should be by Edinburgh band Swim School, the clip has more than whet the appetite for Scots eagerly awaiting the return of hospitality.

Cameron Matthews, Tennent’s Senior Brand Manager, said: “We know Scots have been missing lots of things through lockdown, and enjoying their favourite pub pint is definitely one of them, whether it’s the post-hillwalk pint, the straight-to-the-pub-from-work pint, or the ‘Mon oot’ pint.

“As restrictions begin to lift, we’re all keen to get back into pubs and restaurants – no matter what pint you’ve been missing most, the first one back is going to be memorable as one of the most-anticipated of our time.

"We encourage Scots to get out and support our hospitality industry, and to do so responsibly in line with guidance.”
