Tenet trailer: Christopher Nolan drops sneaky first look at new film ahead of Hobbs and Shaw

Christopher Nolan has craftily dropped a teaser for his new film.

Cinemagoers in the US who had paid to see Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw were excited to witness a 40-second clip teasing his costly espionage thriller, Tenet, which will be released July 2020.

The teaser, which is yet to hit the web, is as cryptic as you'd expect. It shows lead star John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) inspecting two bullet holes in glass.

“Time has come for a new protagonist,” the screen read as Washington, later seen in riot gear, can be seen repeating similar movements. “Time has come for a new kind of mission."

The clip ends with Washington wearing an oxygen mask as the film's logo – stylised on set as TENƎꓕ – appears on screen moving backwards and upside down.

With the references to time in the trailer, not to mention a recent leaked set video that seemed to show the director attempting to film things in reverse, it's clear that Tenet will be as mind-bending and audacious as Inception and Interstellar.

According to Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR), Nolan’s new film is said to be costing approximately $225m, making it one of the most expensive original films of all time.

Tenet also stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, ClémencePoésy, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh,

It'll be released in the UK on 17 July 2020. It's unclear when Warner Bros will release the teaser.
