But what is the meaning behind the title?

Tenet is defined by Oxford English Dictionary as "a principle or belief, especially one of the main principles of a religion or philosophy."

It will be filmed across seven countries and will be shot using IMAX and 70mm film.

The film follows on from the director's Oscar-nominated wartime epic Dunkirk, which starred Sir Kenneth Branagh who will also appear here.

Also, we can expect an appearance from Nolan regular Sir Michael Caine, who previously appeared in his films The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar, and the Dark Knight trilogy.

Tenet will also star Dimple Kapadia, Clemence Posey, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

If a lead role in a Nolan film wasn't enough, Robert Pattinson also looks set to play Batman in the upcoming movie from War of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves.

Tenet is released in cinemas on July 17, 2020.
