Tenable quiz show contestant thinks 'St Mirren' is a Scottish city

Back in August last year TV viewers were left well and truly baffled after a contestant on ITV game show Tipping Point admitted she "didn't know any Scottish cities" when asked where the University of Strathclyde was located.

And now a contestant on another game show has joined them in showing viewers how limited their own knowledge of Scottish geography is by thinking that 'St Mirren' was the name of a city north of the border.

The ridiculous response was given by a welsh contestant, Rhys, on ITV show Tenable when asked to name 10 cities in Scotland and Wales that start with a consonant.

Having already guessed six cities correctly in Glasgow, Swansea, Dundee, St David's, Newport and Cardiff, he then said: "I'm going to try another Scottish city hopefully...I'm going to go for St Mirren".

Presenter Warwick Davis then responded: "It's name of a football team but not a Scottish city."

As you can imagine, the clip has gone viral, with Scottish Twitter reacting with a mixture of anger and confusion.

One person wrote: "Boy has just given St Mirren as a city on Tenable - almost as bad as Warwick Davis’s dad jokes on it".

And another tweeted: "Watching Tenable: “Name ten cities in Scotland and Wales that start with a consonant.” Guy says “St Mirren!” Tenable? Mair like terrible!"

God help all the geography teachers out there, they must be beelin' at the answer!
