Ten years after Fukushima, Japan prepares for next big earthquake

FOCUS © FRANCE 24

Ten years ago, Japan was struck by the strongest earthquake in its recorded history, triggering a tsunami that killed more than 18,000 people and a meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. But incredibly, the magnitude-9 tremour caused limited damage, in large part due to the country's earthquake-resistant buildings. Our Japan correspondents report on how people in one of the most seismically active countries in the world are continuing to prepare for even the strongest quakes.

A programme prepared by James Vasina, Rebecca Martin and Jennie Shin.
