Ten people hospitalised after horror bus and truck crash in Offaly

Gardaí and a number of ambulances remain at the scene of a serious road crash involving a bus and a truck in Co Offaly this evening.

The accident happened on the road between Ballinagar and Daingean, not far from Tullamore, shortly before 3pm on Thursday. It's understood a bus carrying at least 20 passengers collided with an artic lorry.

Gardaí have confirmed to the Irish Mirror that ten people have been brought from the scene to a number of nearby Midlands Regional Hospitals, including the nearby Tullamore Hospital.

They say they are being treated for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

In a statement, gardaí said: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle rtc involving a bus and lorry that occurred at Derrygowley, Daingean, Co. Offaly, at approximately 2:50pm this afternoon.

"Ten people have been taken to Midlands Regional Hospitals to be treated for their injuries which are understood to be non-life threatening.
