Ten people from across south Wales caught by police off-road biking together at beauty spot

Ten people have been fined after travelling from across south-west Wales to ride off-road bikes.

People from Llanelli, Swansea and Port Talbot had made the journey to Resolven before being caught out by officers for breaching coronavirus regulations.

South Wales Police s said it handed out 10 fixed penalty notices to the group of people on Sunday, January 17.

A statement on the force's Twitter account for Neath Port Talbot said: "Skewen neighbourhood policing team have issued 10 Covid fixed penalty notices this morning to persons whom have travelled from areas such as Llanelli, Port Talbot and Swansea to Resolven forestry to ride off-road bikes which is classed as non-essential journey."

This latest enforcement comes after officers fined four people who were gathering at a house in Aberavon on Friday night.

The force also issued fines to eight people who were gathering in a garden shed that had been converted into a bar in the Sketty area of Swansea on Saturday night.

Police were also called to a house party in the Uplands area of the city last weekend where eight people received fines for not following the current restrictions.

Wales has been under alert level four restrictions since December 20, meaning people must stay at home except, for very limited purposes, and must not visit other households or meet people they do not live with.

Exceptions to the rules include leaving home for work purposes if you cannot work from home or to visit a health service.

The next review of the lockdown is due to take place on January 29.
