Ten more people have died of coronavirus at the Royal Bolton Hospital

Ten more people have died of the coronavirus in Bolton, the NHS announced today.

It takes the total number of Covid-19 patients who have lost their lives at the Royal Bolton Hospital up to 87 since the beginning of the pandemic.

These daily numbers are likely to be revised upwards later this week as there is usually a delay in reporting deaths.

The latest figures show a total of 400 cases of coronavirus recorded in Bolton this week.

This has more than doubled from the 185 people who were found to have the virus on April 7.

In that period Bolton has had one of the fastest rates of new cases compared to other boroughs in Greater Manchester.

Across the region there have been 52 more deaths from the virus today, taking the total up to 644.

Deaths in the community, including care homes, are not recorded in these figures and are published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) several days later.
