Ten more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

A further ten people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

It takes the region's hospital death toll to 2,718.

Every day, the NHS in England provides an update on Covid-19 related fatalities.

These are cases in which a patient has tested positive for the virus within 28 days of their death - or when Covid is mentioned on their death certificate.

Today (Sunday), a total of deaths were announced by hospital trusts in Greater Manchester.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, which runs 11 hospitals including the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) and Wythenshawe Hospital, confirmed five deaths.

Pennine Acute, which runs North Manchester General Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital, Bury, The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary, recorded two.

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust all reported one death each.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Sunday, November 1:

  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 537
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 697
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 230
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 259
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 326
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 16
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 345
