Ten easy pumpkin carving ideas for children this Halloween

With Covid-19 cases rising across the North East, many parents will be choosing to skip Trick or Treating for a second year in a row, and instead let their children explore their creative side with some pumpkin carving.

There's plenty of design inspiration to choose from, whether you're an experienced carver or just a beginner.

We've compiled a list of some of our favourite simple designs, with ideas for both teens and toddlers.

So if your household are choosing to hang up the fangs this year and stay indoors, have a look at our handy list of pumpkin carving ideas.

Instagram pumpkin

(Shambam - Unspalsh)

If you have a teenager in the house, this 'Instragamable' Instagram pumpkin could be just the idea to encourage them to take part in some family pumpkin carving.

The 'carving-free' pumpkin

If you are searching for ideas for a toddler, this non-carve pumpkin idea might be a good option. It also means you won't have to clear up the pumpkin guts after, so win-win. You could paint practically any Jack 'O Lantern face design on your pumpkin using nothing but paint too.

Shocked pumpkin

If you are looking for something fairly easy, but with a twist on the traditional pumpkin - why not copy this cute little fella?

Pennywise pumpkin

For the teenagers in you're house, this could really be a chance to get creative (and truly terrifying) with their carving and paintwork.

'Spooky' pumpkin

(Brian Wegman - Unspalsh)

Another no-carve idea here. If you don't fancy getting messy with the carving kit, why not trying writing some spooky sayings and spiders onto your pumpkin instead?

Oogie Boogie lantern

(Gene Gallin - Unsplashed)

He's the Boogie Man.

Nothing says Halloween like a movie night with The Nightmare Before Christmas. So why not put it on while you create your own evil Oogie Boogie. This idea would also look great on green pumpkins too.

Batman pumpkin

If you have a superhero fan at home, this is a obvious choice to display on your doorstep. It's simple, but effective - and still spooky.

Happy pumpkin

(Robert Lindor - Unsplash)

If Halloween makes you happy, why not show it by taking inspiration from one of these adorable happy pumpkins? You also avoid having to do the traditional jiggered teeth, making it a slightly easier task.

Skeleton arms pumpkin

It turns out if you whack a pair of skeleton arms on you're pumpkin it can make it a lot creepier - with very little extra effort.

Star and moon pumpkin

If you want to create a unique pumpkin, but without any of the complicated carving this mystical guy could be an option for you.
