Ten days without screens: French families urged to unplug and refocus

ENTRE NOUS © FRANCE 24

Across France, children are being asked to put down tablets, switch off consoles and step away from their screens. The movement, called Dix Jours Sans Écrans, or Ten Days Without Screens, involves schools, nurseries and entire communities. But is it realistic? Delano D'Souza talks to digital parenting coach Elizabeth Milovidov about what parents and caregivers can do to make it through the 10 days.

Screen use affects sleep, concentration and physical health as it leaves children more sedentary and it can slow down social and emotional development.

Elizabeth Milovidov, a digital parenting coach based in the UK, says the best activities are the simplest ones and recommends bringing back board games, arts and crafts and cooking.

She also says parents must not be afraid of letting children be bored. She gives parents and caregivers some great advice on how to balance modern technology and a happy family life.
