Ten charged over $1m Sydney cannabis crop

Ten men have been charged after police seized cannabis worth an estimated $1 million and nearly $40,000 cash from nine hydroponic houses in Sydney's east.

Officers raided nine properties at Randwick, Rosebery, Chifley, Kingsford, Maroubra, West Hoxton, Kensington and Matraville at dawn on Wednesday.

They say they found sophisticated hydroponic cannabis set-ups, seized 405 cannabis plants, about three kilos of cannabis and $37,550.

The drugs have an estimated potential street value of more than $1 million.

Police arrested 10 men, including two during a vehicle stop near Broken Hill in far western NSW, and charged them with numerous drug offences and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.

Six of the men were refused bail while four were granted conditional bail and will appear in various courts.
