Private buses have been exempted for a few days from paying toll at the newly installed toll plaza at Panniyankara, near Vadakkanchery, on the National Highway 544.
A dispute had erupted over the heavy toll private buses were asked to pay for the 29-km Vadakkanchery-Mannuthi six-lane stretch of the National Highway.
Private bus owners said they had been exempted from the toll until April 5 in view of the ongoing SSLC examinations and some temple festivals such as Nenmara-Vallangi Vela.
An agreement on proposed concessions for private buses was yet to be reached.
