Tempers flare as Kieran McGeeney has words with Monaghan players and referee after full-time whistle

Kieran McGeeney was clearly unhappy as the full-time whistle sounded at Croke Park on Saturday evening.

The Armagh manager had just watched his side draw with Monaghan in normal time to take the game to extra-time.

And McGeeney appeared to be furious with a number of decisions made by referee Conor Lane, especially a challenge on one of his players late in the game.

He walked on to the pitch and shouted at Lane and then appeared to shoulder Stephen O'Hanlon player before being pushed back by the Monaghan man.

However, Paddy Andrews didn't see anything wrong with the challenge McGeeney was seemingly annoyed with.

Former Dublin star Andrews, who was on punditry duty for GAAGO, said: "I think it's a fair hit. I can see McGeeney and I think the Armagh fans are frustrated because they felt that was the opportunity to win the game, but I think Conor Lane has got that one right."

Ex-Kerry player Marc O Se added: "I'll tell you one thing for Conor Lane, really hard, normal time, you don't get to watch instant replays and he has to call that in normal time. It was a side to side charge, he got it right.

"In fairness to Kieran McGeeney, he comes on the field, he probably thinks it's an unfair challenge and that's just where they're looking for the win. Very disappointing for Kieran McGeeney and he shows his frustration."
