Heavy rain and storms have swept through the UK over the last few days and last month's heatwave feels like a distant memory - but the warm weather could soon be returning.
Temperatures could hit the high 20s later this month with an African plume set to bring the soaring heat back to the UK.
Weather forecasters have predicted an end to unsettled conditions and temperatures will rise higher than average.

Weather Outlook Forecaster, Brian Game, told the Express: “High pressure may build towards the UK from the Azores, but there is a lot of uncertainty about this.
"If it happens temperatures in southern and central areas could climb towards the upper 20Cs and in the north the mid 20Cs.
"In the first half of August, mixed with showers or longer periods of rain but also warm and fine spells.
"The driest weather will probably be in the south and east, but a heightened risk of heavy showers or thunderstorms means local variations could be large.
"Temperatures should be above average when aggregated over the period as a whole. In the second half, the chance of settled and very warm periods increases.
"Showery spells of rain are still probable, particularly in the north and west."
Met Office spokeswoman, Nicola Maxey said: “The start of the month is expected to remain changeable with temperatures most likely close to normal for the time of year or slightly below.
"During the second half of the month there is a tentative signal for more settled conditions to develop with high pressure becoming slightly more likely.
"If this does occur we could see drier conditions, although there is still the risk of showers or thunderstorms at times, and temperatures could warm up from the middle of the month, giving an increasing chance some hotter spells could develop.
"It is too early to say if these temperatures will reach heatwave thresholds."
The BBC' s long-range forecast currently predicts unsettled weather for the next few weeks.
"We anticipate low pressure will be in charge across northern Europe for the next few weeks, keeping the UK weather unsettled, wetter, and cooler than normal for late summertime.
"However, later in August there are some encouraging signs for more influential high pressure, at least for a few weeks, bringing some drier and warmer weather.
"This does come with a slight chance of a late-summer heat wave, but at the moment this is only a risk."
