Temperatures in the North East could reach scorching 26 degrees this week

The North East could see temperatures as high as 26°C this week with the sunshine expected to stay.

The weekend was a mixed bag in the region but luckily, things are looking up this week.

Sunshine will gradually break through the clouds and it may even start feeling like summer.

Here is what the Met Office has forecast for this week.

Tonight:

Staying fine and dry through the evening.

Overnight there will be clear spells and patchy cloud, perhaps with some fog patches in prone spots around dawn. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

Another mainly fine and dry day with patchy cloud and sunny spells.

Some of the cloud may bring the odd light shower, but most places will be dry throughout. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Wednesday

Sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning.

It will be warm through the day with possibility of showers in the evening. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Thursday

Light rain changing to cloudy by late morning.

The sunshine will come through in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Friday

Sunny intervals changing to light showers by lunchtime.

Mainly overcast with more prolonged rainfall during the afternoon going into the evening.

Windy conditions expected. Maximum temperature 20 °C.
