Temperatures are finally set to rise after days of heavy rain, snow and ice.
This week the Met Office has predicted that weather is set to improve and temperatures will start to rise this week to a maximum of 7°C in some areas of the region.
Last week most of the UK was hit with the arrival of Storm Christophe, as heavy rain caused flooding forcing roads to close.
The wintry weather continued as the Met Office issued the region with multiple weather warnings for snow and ice.
During the weekend, the region woke up to a blanket of frost with temperatures dropping as low as -6°C.
Monday weather forecast for the region states: "A frosty start with icy stretches, then a mainly dry day, but cold and often sunny.
"An isolated wintry shower is possible, mainly over the Pennines. Breezy over hills but lighter winds further east. Maximum temperature 4 °C.
"Cloudy over the Pennines with further wintry showers. Drier further east with long clear spells.
"A sharp frost is likely everywhere with icy stretches over untreated surfaces. Minimum temperature -5 °C."
While for Tuesday it says: "It will be a frosty, dry, bright start on Tuesday. Turning cloudy through the morning with rain during the afternoon, wintry on hills. Maximum temperature 5 °C."
