Temperatures are expected to soar in Scotland next month after an extremely unsettled August concludes, forecasters have predicted.
The Met Office has just published details of its long range forecast for the end of this month going into September.
Unsettled conditions are expected to remain in place across the UK until roughly August 24, but the summer weather could roll in shortly after.
Conditions could potentially improve further as experts anticipate temperatures to be more above average, before even hotter climates for the beginning September.

The Met Office says: “Although confidence is very low through this period, a general trend towards more settled conditions is likely.
“Somewhat unsettled and changeable conditions are most likely to remain in place at the start of the period, with these looking to give way to more settled, drier conditions by the end.
“Temperatures are likely to be above average, with the potential for hotter weather later in the month.”
Forecasters have previously said that the upturn in weather could be the result of a plume of heat travelling up from Africa.
Portugal is expected to see temperatures peak between 35C and 40C before heading north, according to experts.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha says that the hot weather could hit the UK as early as August 20.
Scots will be delighted at even the faintest of hints that better weather is on the way, as much of the country continues to deal with the aftermath of non-stop thunderstorms over recent days.
Local communities have been hit by flash floods, while some businesses had to be evacuated as rain battered mainly southern and central Scotland.

More thunderstorms are expected to hit the north east of the country later today, with forecasters warning that up to 20mm of rain could land in just one hour.
Scots in the likes of Aberdeenshire, Perth and Kinross and Angus have been urged to prepare for flooding as a number of flood alerts remain in place.
