It's set to be a hot week in Greater Manchester, with temperatures reaching 29C as the region gears up for a heatwave.

And 'isolated spots' in Greater Manchester could even reach 32C, according to Met Office forecasters.

It's forecast to hit 30C in London on Wednesday, making it the hottest day of the year so far.

The hottest day recorded so far was May 20, when temperatures reached 28.2C at Santon Downham in Suffolk.

Today (Monday) should bring a mix of cloud and sunshine in Greater Manchester, with temperatures peaking at about 22C.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is predicted to feel even warmer - expect wall to wall sunshine from 2pm.

Mercury levels should hit around 26C, according to the Met Office.

The hottest days of the week should be Wednesday and Thursday - with temperatures hitting 29C.

But 'isolated spots', such as parks or residential streets in the region, could record temperatures of 32C, according to forecasters.

Nicola Maxey, a press officer at the Met Office said: "We are going to see temperatures warming up in the UK.

"It will potentially be the warmest week of the year.

"We are looking at heatwave conditions, and Manchester might be in that. We are looking at temperatures of around 28C/29C.

"In isolated spots we could see 30C on Wednesday and highs of 32C on Thursday.

"Temperatures should start to return to near normal by Saturday."
