NT Police find body in search for missing man near Central Australian campsite

The man's vehicle was located near Boggy Hole.

Northern Territory Police say they have found the body of a man believed to be 37-year-old Yun-Seob Shin, who went missing near a remote campground in Central Australia.

Police initiated an air and land search on Saturday after his colleagues in Alice Springs raised concerns that he had not shown up to work.

Mr Shin had told them about his intentions to go camping on Thursday and Friday near Palm Valley or Boggy Hole in the Finke Gorge National Park, 140 kilometres west of Alice Springs.

He was last seen alive at the Stuart Well roadhouse, 90 kilometres south-west of the town.

Temperatures in the region had been reaching 40 degrees, raising serious concerns about his welfare.

On Sunday afternoon, police confirmed the tragic end to their search.

"This morning, police located a body believed to be the missing person from Alice Springs," they said in a statement.

"The man's vehicle was located by helicopter near Boggy Hole."

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and that a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Mr Shin had been living in Alice Springs for the past month and police believe he previously lived in Victoria.
