Temperature could hit 28C as school holidays start - but expect a wet weekend first

It will be a wet start to the summer holidays, but by the end of the weekend conditions will start to brighten up.

Forecasters have said a band of rain will push through from the west of the UK tomorrow, arriving in Manchester by Thursday morning.

The wet spell is expected to arrive around 8am to 9am and will continue through most of the morning.

By the afternoon it will gradually start to clear and there could be some sunny spells in the early evening.

Overnight it will remain dry, but there will be more rain to come on Saturday meaning those heading to the Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank will need to bring their raincoats.

The rain will be slow moving and there could be some heavy outbursts at times.
