Tell your most extraordinary life experience on stage – competition

This competition has now closed.

The judges, including Molly Ringwald and the directors of the Moth as well as Melissa Denes, editor of Guardian Weekend magazine, have chosen one winner, and three runners-up. The winner is Glenys Newton for her story about the family car being attacked by lions. You can read her story, and see her performing it at London's first Moth StorySlam event, here. The runners-up are: Shea Wong, John Lawlor, and Suraya Sidhu Singh.

The Moth is an acclaimed not-for-profit organisation that celebrates the craft of storytelling. Since its launch in 1997, the Moth has presented thousands of stories, all true, all told live to packed out crowds. Speakers have included Salman Rushdie on war-torn Central America, Molly Ringwald talking about her struggles to have a child and Neil Gaiman telling his story of a sixteen year old's experience at Liverpool Street Station, and first-timers as well.
