Tell us your reasons to date an aid worker

There may be 52 reasons not to date an aid worker, but there are also at least that many arguments for becoming romantically involved with those courageous, compassionate and slightly crazy characters.

People who work in the sector have already offered plenty of reasons why humanitarians make great dates. For example, WhyDev’s excellent list includes:

15. Use ‘Moral Credits’ gained from dating an aid worker to offset the morally hazardous aspects of your life.

Other persuasive justifications are that you’ll never be bored by an aid worker and when disaster strikes - whether its an earthquake or the waiter messing up your drinks order - they are calm and collected.

Don’t just take our word for it. There’s even a Humanitarian Dating site for connecting with people who “care about making their own communities and the world a more just place for all”.

Development champion Jennifer Lentfer argues that aid workers make good lovers because “we’re a group of people who believe in unseen things and commit ourselves to them, like love, like development”.
