Tell us your old bag's tales

British Airways said today that as many as 20,000 bags had gone astray at Heathrow airport in recent days amid the chaos following the security crackdown.

BA said most of the bags had been reunited with owners but around 5,000 still had to be returned. Some feel the baggage fiasco is a final kick in the teeth for some passengers at the UK's busiest airports who have endured cancellations, crowded terminals and long delays.

But if all this was not enough, it has also emerged that there has been a spike in the number of thefts from baggage holds at some airports. Police say these kinds of thefts have trebled at Gatwick since the increased security restrictions, which initially meant electronics such as laptops and iPods had to be put in the hold.

News blog is keen to hear from readers who may have had their baggage go astray. Where did it go? Were you happy with the airline's efforts to return it? And what do you think of the increase in baggage thefts?
