Tell us what you think about new coronavirus lockdown rules for Merseyside

The whole of Merseyside and Halton is facing a new series of tougher coronavirus rules to try and halt the spread of the virus.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock made the announcement in the House of Commons today, following a sustained rise in the number of cases locally.

The new coronavirus measures come into effect at 00:01am on Saturday morning and are on top of those which were announced last week.

They include a ban on socialising with another household in any indoor setting, unless they are part of your support bubble.

Help will be given to local councils affected by the new rules, while meeting in public outdoor settings are exempt under the rule of six.

All but essential travel is advised against, as are visits to care homes or to watch sporting events.
