Calls are being made for Covid restrictions to be re-introduced now as the number of cases and hospitalisations continue to rise across the UK.

The call comes after the number of new Covid cases has risen to more than 40,000 a day for the past week. The number of people being admitted to hospitals is also increasing, although it remains well below previous levels.
At the moment the Government is putting its faith in a booster vaccine for vulnerable groups to stave off a massive rise in cases where the NHS would struggle to cope.
