Tell us if you feel safe walking alone at night in Bristol

Sarah Everard’s shocking death has ignited widespread concern for women’s safety after she disappeared walking alone in Clapham.

The 33-year-old went missing on March 3 and her body was discovered by police a week later in woodland near Ashford, Kent.

Much of the conversation has previously been framed around how women should protect themselves from attacks.

Statistics from YouGov reveal one in three women take steps to protect themselves from sexual assault on a regular basis compared to just 9% of men.

Many people have taken to social media to share their frustrations after being told to use preventative measures to avoid assault, such as pepper spray, removing headphones and holding keys between their fingers.

Now the narrative is starting to change with some men reaching out to ask how they can help to make people feel safer.

We have created this survey because we want to hear how you feel walking alone at night in Bristol.

Perhaps there are poorly lit areas you avoid walking through at night or maybe you do not consider Bristol an unsafe place to live.

Have your say on the matter in the survey below.
