Tell us if you agree with the government's £5,000 fine on foreign travel

Holidays abroad will be banned in England with rulebreakers facing fines of up to £5,000 if caught trying to travel without a valid reason.

MPs will vote on the legislation for continued restrictions on non-essential travel outside of the UK, which may be in place until July.

If approved the penalty will come into place next Monday as the government’s “stay at home” policy - making it illegal to leave the country for a holiday - ends on March 29.

The new coronavirus law has surfaced as a third wave emerges in parts of Europe including Germany and France.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock spoke to the BBC this morning to explain the measures were in place to prevent new variants of the virus from entering the UK.

The ban on international travel is expected to last until July.

Across Bristol, hundreds will be disappointed to hear that their summer holidays may not go ahead as planned.

We want to know your feelings towards the new foreign travel fine proposed by the government.

Perhaps you believe tightening the boarders will prevent coronavirus cases from rising again or maybe you're frustrated about a holiday you booked this year.
